CEO of Harvard's endowment to leave at year-end

The CEO of Harvard University's endowment, Jane Mendillo, will step down at the end of the year, the university said on Tuesday.

"Harvard Management is in a really good spot now. The company and the portfolio are firing on all cylinders,'' Mendillo told the Boston Globe in an interview.

Harvard estimates its endowment has returned 11 percent to 12 percent a year under Mendillo's watch. The university has already started a search for her successor.
