A visitor to the nation's capital was kidnapped by an Uber driver and led on a high-speed chase through the city before being stopped by a taxi inspector, according to the Washington Post.
"It was like an episode of 'Cops,'" said Ryan Simonetti, CEO of conference center company Convene. He and fellow passengers hailed a car through Uber, saw the driver talking to a city taxi inspector, and then were perplexed when the inspector began to follow their car.
"I'm sorry, we're going to have to run this red light," they were told by the driver, who then proceeded to jump onto I-395 and drive "well above the speed limit."
The ordeal ended a short time later when the taxi inspector prevented the car from leaving the exit ramp, at which point Simonetti and his fellow passengers exited.
Uber said the driver's account has since been deactivated.
