Google is bringing humanity one step closer to the future.

The Palo Alto, California-based company unveiled its second self-driving prototype Monday through a statement. "The vehicle we unveiled in May was an early mock-up—it didn't even have real headlights," said the statement. "Since then, we've been working on different prototypes-of prototypes."

The company also added that, while the vehicle is now "fully functional," it would continue testing the prototype. "Our safety drivers will continue to oversee the vehicle for a while longer, using temporary manual controls as needed," said the statement.
