UBS floor director Art Cashin has heard many an opening bell, but Tuesday's was a special one for the frequent CNBC contributor.
Cashin rang the bell at the New York Stock Exchange himself to celebrate his 50th anniversary as a member of the NYSE. He became a member on Dec. 30, 1964, at the age of 23. At the time, he was one of the youngest men to ever hold the seat.
Now one of six governors of the floor, Cashin came to Wall Street at the age of 18.
As for the secret to his longevity, he said, "You have to have, shall we say, certain fluids that preserve you, and I marinate some ice cubes on a regular basis."
With that in mind, the hosts of "Squawk on the Street" presented him with a decanter after taking a look back at a few moments from his years on the floor. Cheers.
