A "radically redesigned" version of Apple's MacBook Air will be unveiled this year, 9to5Mac reported Tuesday.

Citing sources inside Apple, the report said the new device will feature a lighter body and a high-resolution 12-inch display.

The new model will be smaller and slightly narrower than the current 11-inch and 13-inch devices, the 9to5Mac report said.

Notably, the machine is expected to be about a quarter of an inch taller to house the slightly larger screen.

Separately, leaked photos—reportedly taken by a Foxconn employee in China, where iPads are manufactured—supports earlier rumors of a forthcoming 12.2-inch iPad "Air Plus."

The sketch, released by French website Nowhere Else, is consistent with rumors that the next iPad sports four speakers for stereo sound.

Nowhere Else has previously leaked details of unreleased mobile devices that turned out be accurate, the Daily Mail said.
