The total net worth of individuals featured on the list is $19.3 billion, out of which $11 billion belongs to Chinese entrepreneurs, according to data compiled by Wealth-X for CNBC. The rankings underscore China's ability to churn out billionaires even as economic growth slows to multi-year lows.

Overall, male technopreneurs dominated the rankings, with 9 out of 10 individuals amassing their wealth from internet software firms and social networks.
