A window that is also a battery

Japanese scientists have developed a tinted window that doubles as a battery, according to a report on Gizmodo.

The lithium-ion battery has a built in solar cell mounted on a piece of glass, so the battery can recharge itself. The device's inventors said they envision these batteries covering windows in buildings and turning captured sunlight into usable electricity. The also could be used for smartphone screens, Gizmodo notes.
