For this edition of "Access: Middle East," CNBC gives you a look behind the scenes this November at the Dubai Airshow.

The event is held every two years in the United Arab Emirates, connecting aerospace professionals across the industry, to accelerate a successful level of trade worldwide.

CNBC talks to the likes of Boeing International and Emirates on why the airshow came under pressure in 2015, with sales coming in at half the amount of what was ordered in 2013.

But one area where spending was high was military defence. CNBC's Hadley Gamble explains further.
