U.S. E-Mini S&P 500 futures fell 0.16 percent at the open of the electronic trading session on Monday.
Dow mini-futures for March expiry were down 8 points or 0.05 percent, at 15,904, shortly after the market opened. Nasdaq futures fell 8 points, or 0.19 percent, at 4,132.75.
Markets have experienced more volatile trade than usual so far this year amid investor concerns about plunging oil prices and slowing global growth.
China is due to deliver key 2015 growth data on Tuesday at 10am local time.
