If your 2017 career goals seems daunting, it might be because you need more daily inspiration.

The good news is that there are thousands of podcasts out there dedicated to self-improvement in your work life. CNBC narrowed down the list, featuring a handful of some of the best shows from best-selling authors and career coaches.

Here are 6 podcasts to help you achieve your career goals, one episode at a time:

1. "The James Altucher Show"

James Altucher is an entrepreneur, investor and author of more than 10 books. He's had an extremely interesting career, having run several companies, lost everything and gained it back.

In Altucher's own words, his candid, irreverent show "isn't your average business podcast."


2. "The School of Greatness"

Lewis Howes was a pro-football player who hit rock bottom when an injury ruined his athletic career. But he turned his life around in just a few years, going from sleeping on his sister's couch to running a seven-figure business.

"Hustle comes to mind when people ask me how I did it," Howes writes on his blog. "Lots of hustle, passion, focus and consistent vision."

Howes's podcast aims to help you tap into your hustle and vision, too.


3. "Pivot with Jenny Blake"

Jenny Blake has personally helped more than 1,000 people figure out their career paths as a former Google career coach. She's the author of "Pivot," a book on helping professionals find their passions in small, manageable steps.

Blake's podcast focuses on how career professionals can keep agile in a changing workforce.


4. "The Accidental Creative"

Todd Henry, an entrepreneur and author, calls himself an "arms dealer for the creative revolution."

His podcast is about how to pursue your creative goals and keep yourself accountable. Several of his episodes come with downloadable worksheets.


5. "The Tim Ferriss Show"

Tim Ferriss is an entrepreneur, public speaker and author, known for his best-selling book "The 4-Hour Workweek."

His podcast gets into the nitty-gritty of success and offers key takeways.

"I deconstruct world-class performers from eclectic areas (investing, sports, business, art, etc.) to extract the tactics, tools, and routines you can use," Ferriss writes on his website.


6. "The Charged Life"

Brendon Buchard is a best-selling author of "The Motivation Manifesto," speaker and life coach.

Buchard's motto is, "No matter how small you start, start something that matters."

His podcast focuses on helping people inject energy into their lives and their careers.
