DENVER-- Colorado's unemployment rate decreased to 8 percent in September, down two-tenths of a percentage point from August's unemployment rate of 8.2 percent.

OMAHA, Neb.-- An index of economic conditions in 10 Midwest and Western states jumped this month after three months of drought-induced doldrums. "Our survey indicates that the negative impacts of the drought are being more than offset by the positives of very strong incomes from high agriculture and energy prices," said Creighton University economist Ernie Goss.

DENVER-- Restaurant chain Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. said Thursday that its third-quarter net income rose 20 percent as traffic grew and it opened more stores. Chipotle's net income rose to $72.3 million, or $2.27 per share, from $60.4 million, or $1.90 per share, last year. Revenue rose to $700.5 million from $591.9 million a year ago.
