Gumersindo Oliveros

Sindo Oliveros is the CEO and CIO of Kaust Investment Management, the investment management arm of the financial endowment for King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.

Previously, he managed the pension plan and endowments at the World Bank and was a member of the senior treasury team that managed more than $100 billion for the bank and for external clients. He advised central banks, pension plans and sovereign wealth funds on multi-asset management.

Oliveros also headed the World Bank's capital markets and financial engineering department. He has held several positions at the International Monetary Fund working on adjustment programs in Latin America, Asia and Africa, and was assistant professor at the University of Minnesota and a consultant for the Austrian company Chemie Linz.

A Spanish national, Oliveros holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in economics from the University of Minnesota, where he was a Fulbright Scholar and a recipient of the Andreas Scholarship. He holds an M.A. from the Universidad Complutense, Madrid, and diplomas in literature from the Université de Toulouse, in France, and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, in Germany.

He has been a member of several boards and is now a member of the MSCI Barra advisory board, the Sequoia Heritage Fund board, Managed Fund Association board, the EDHEC-Risk Institute board and the Alternative Investment Management Association advisory board.
