Actor James Cromwell made a guest appearance on "Power Lunch" today to talk about his stock picks for Trading With The Stars. He's currently in 3rd place, just behind fellow actors Jonathan Tucker and Stephen Collins. James seems to be doing just fine--with his strategy of picking socially responsible stocks--and "going with his conscience" on how things should be.
Actor Jonathan Tucker maintains his lead and fellow actor Stephen Collins holds on to second. Stephen was by far the most active celeb Tuesday (trust me, putting in all those ticker symbols for him was NOT easy), but his purchases could give him the lead if they perform well on Wednesday. Meanwhile, James Cromwell holds on to 3rd place, but Ernie Hudson falls from 4th place to 5th.
Actor Jonathan Tucker holds on to the top spot with a total portfolio value of $1,168,185.00 up $6,310.00 or 0.54% from Friday's total. But the real big news came from fellow actor Ernie Hudson. He climbed from 9th place on Friday to 4th Monday with a total portfolio value of $1,079,649.52--up $48,701.76 or 4.72% from Friday's total. Ernie added $45,701.76 to his total on the sale of Arch Coal (ACI) which was up 4.43% Monday.
What's the latest on Trading With The Stars?? Actor Jonathan Tucker holds onto 1st place (and gets his picture posted again) because of Google's solid earnings and gains across almost all of his holdings. Meanwhile, Willie Garson fights his way back into third place on Brilliance China Auto, as Chris Moneymaker falls from 3rd to 5th place on a $60K loss on Tempur-Pedic.
Celeb comedienne Judy Gold needs help--she's in 7th place, down from 6th after once being in 2nd! (she prefers to remember that day). So, Judy made a visit to The Solaris Group and talked with managing partner Tim Ghriskey. (the firm may never be the same again). It seems she tried a new strategy--shedding tears in order to get the right picks. Here's the video of her day at Solaris.
Time to put back Jonathan Tucker's photo in the blog post as the actor has pushed out poker champion Chris Moneymaker from the top spot in Trading With The Stars. Jonathan is now followed by fellow actor Stephen Collins in 2nd. Moneymaker lost on Cubist Pharma which fell 7.46% Thursday. It's a close race between the top 3, with only....
Good morning. Serge Amelyan continues to hold the top position on the overall leaderboard, while the upset occurs as Parker Robinson falls to third, displaced by Vitaliy Khizder who moves into 2nd. As we said Thursday, Serge is the first contestant to break the $3M mark with a total portfolio value of $3,275,721.77 up $39,498.72 from Wednesday's total on the sale of...
It was a volatile day for the celebs. Champion poker player Chris Moneymaker holds onto the first spot despite his $90K loss on Syntel but actor Jonathan Tucker takes over the #2 spot. Meanwhile, Willie Garson falls into 4th, allowing Stephen Collins to gain 3rd place. Johnny Bench falls from 6th to 8th. One of the stocks for Chris M., CBST, is also a favorite of Parker Robinson in our non-celeb trading. Both are "banking" on it paying off.
Celeb and champion poker player Chris Moneymaker widens his lead in first place to almost $60K with the smart bet on Rio Narcea Mines which was up 3.33%, and Garson lost on Mattel which was down 0.85%. AND--maybe more importantly-- Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench moves up two more spots from 8th to 6th on gains in American Oriental Bioengineering and CKX . Go, Johnny go!
World champ poker player Chris Moneymaker retains his lead in Trading With The Stars--though actor Willie Garson climbed back into second. Only about $10,000 separates the two. The balance between the two will hang on Monday's (today's) performance of Moneymaker's purchase of Rio Narcea Mines and Willie's buy of Mattel. AND Johnny Bench fought his way...
Actor Jonathan Tucker is playing for "Street Signs" in Trading With The Stars. He might be playing for higher stakes after the contest if he's taken at his word. Even though he's in 4th place, he told CNBC's Erin Burnett that if he was running a hedge fund the way he's running his contest portfolio--"we'd be doing pretty fantastically well." He did say that he and Erin should open up their own hedge fund. (hold on Jonathan--we'll see about that--it's just contest--but could it be a career move? nah..) However, he certainly dresses the part..
It's a back and forth tug of war in Trading With The Stars between champion poker player Chris Moneymaker and actor Willie Garson--as Chris wrestles the lead back from Willie on his Krispy Kreme trade. This is turning into quite a "horse race" between the two--as each nudges into the lead only to be pushed back by the other. (we'll keep working on our metaphors if they keep doing this).
Actor Willie Garson comes back (as we thought-see below) to take champion poker player Chris Moneymaker out of the lead for the second time. Stephen Collins also passes Chris to take second place on Chris's big loss on CMGI. Not too good of a day for most--as all of our celebs were down Wednesday, except for Ernie Hudson who gained almost $35,000 mostly on his sale of Electro Scientific, moving himself out of last place.
World champion poker player Chris Moneymaker is number one in Trading With The Stars! He knocks Willie Garson out of first place--taking the lead for the SECOND time in the competition. He was number one back on April 3rd. (thanks to producer Lori Spechler for pointing this out). BUT is it a "bluff?"--only $2,590.29 separates the two players. So, there could be more trading places in the days ahead. Here's a breakdown:
Here's a look at where celeb Judy Gold stands in Trading with the Stars--as chronicled by the crew on "Morning Call," the show she's playing for. She's in 6th place, but DYING to move up a spot or two. Willie Garson still leads the pack after what can only be described as a "tremendous" move up the ranks. (see Timothy Sykes' blog post today).
Here's our update on "Trading With The Stars." Willie proves himself as not another flash in the pan, and maintains the #1 spot two day's in a row. (and just like Willie--almost- Johnny Bench holds onto 7th place!) Interesting note: all of our celeb portfolios are above the $1 million benchmark. Congrats to all for that!!
Hey everyone, we have another guest blogger. He's Timothy Sykes, and like Jeff Mishlove and James Altucher, he's a regular on the contest program "How To Win." All three are going to be giving their insights and more as we move along. These are good companion pieces to what they say on "How To Win." It's a pleasure to have all three. So, here's Timothy:
World champ poker player Chris Moneymaker went all in on one stock for "Trading With The Stars" and expected to be in first place! But that honor belongs to actor Willie Garson, as we've noted today. Chris talked about his mvoes with the crew of "Squawk on the Street," the show he's playing for.
Wow--a big move and an exciting day for the celebrities in "Trading With The Stars." In a big upset--really big--actor Willie Garson propels himself from last place to take the top spot on a HUGE gain with his trade on Robbins & Myers. All our celebs showed gains in their portfolio except for Ernie Hudson who lost out on AgioDynamics which he held a day too long, erasing his earlier gains and dropping him into last place..
Here's our look at the stocks making the most "noise" with traders. There's a new name on the most actives--as you will see below. And Freemont General seems to have run its course, and takes a top spot in the worst performing list--while still showing up in the most active list as well as the most widely held.
