Investigators believe the Wheaton Bandit most likely has military or law enforcement training. One reason is that he appears as if he's undergone extensive weapons training, using a method called "indexing" where he keeps his index finger away from the gun's trigger. Instead, the bandit rests his index finger along the "slide" of the gun to avoid an accidental discharge if startled or bumped. (Source: FBI)

The FBI considers the Wheaton Bandit to be a professional bank robber. He has hit 16 banks since January 2002, and remains on the loose to this day.
