    MEXICO CITY-- Mexican President Felipe Calderon has signed into law a ban on large cash transactions as part of an effort to fight money laundering that experts estimate may amount to around $10 billion per year in Mexico. The bill forbids buyers and sellers from giving or accepting cash payments of more than a half million pesos for real-estate purchases.

    DETROIT-- Ford is recalling more than 154,000 Fiesta subcompacts to fix a problem with the side air bags. The company says that if the front passenger seat is empty, the side air bag won't inflate to protect rear-seat passengers in some crashes. They were built in Mexico from Nov. 3, 2009 to Sept. 21, 2012.

    NEW YORK-- Shares of AuRico Gold Inc. rose 4 percent Monday after the Canadian mining company announced preliminary production results from its new mine in northern Ontario. The Ocampo mine produced 21,916 gold equivalent ounces at cash costs of $754 per gold equivalent ounce.

    DENVER-- Forest Oil is selling all of its South Louisiana properties for about $220 million as part of its plan to shed some non-core assets. Forest Oil Corp. previously announced that it is selling its East Texas natural gas gathering assets for $34 million. The Eagle Ford shale formation stretches from the western Texas- Mexico border to Louisiana.
