CARSON CITY, Nev.-- Nevada's unemployment rate has dropped to 11.8 percent in September, down from 12.1 percent the month earlier. Officials with the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation say Friday that Las Vegas' jobless rate is 11.5 percent, down from 12.3 percent in August.
SAN FRANCISCO-- A Las Vegas developer has been bounced between tribal and federal court in an effort to protect his financial interest in the Grand Canyon Skywalk, a popular glass bridge that extends from the canyon's edge on tribal land in western Arizona.
NEW YORK-- Shares of MGM Resorts International climbed Thursday after the company said its Chinese arm signed a deal for land to build a massive new casino in the world's biggest gambling market. MGM China, which signed the deal, is a joint venture between Las Vegas- based MGM Resorts International and Pansy Ho, daughter of Macau casino kingpin Stanley Ho.

HONG KONG-- The Chinese arm of U.S. casino company MGM Resorts International signed a land deal Thursday for a new $2.5 billion casino resort in Macau, the world's biggest gambling market, hoping to catch up with the rapid expansion of rival casino operators.
MGM China Holdings Ltd. said it formally accepted a land concession contract from the Macau government for a 7.2 hectare plot in the Cotai district, an area of reclaimed land that's earmarked for all new casinos in the Asian gambling haven. MGM China said it is paying $161.4 million for the land, including a $56.2 million down payment.
An Associated Press analysis of presidential campaign advertising data from April through last week found that pro-Romney spending has exceeded pro-Obama ad spending by at least $65 million across the nine states expected to decide the election: Colorado, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, Iowa and Wisconsin.

LAS VEGAS-- Nevada's foreclosure rate remains fifth in the nation after big drops in activity compared with last year. RealtyTrac reports Thursday that Nevada's September foreclosure rate is down 19 percent from August and down more than 75 percent from the same time last year. That rate fell behind Florida, California, Illinois and Arizona.

LAS VEGAS-- Nevada's average gas price is $3.93 per gallon after northern city prices shot up in line with California and southern cities trailed far behind. AAA says Tuesday that some northern Nevada metropolitan areas supplied by California saw their fuel prices jump 24 cents in a single week.
LAS VEGAS-- Home prices in the Las Vegas area are up for the eighth month in a row, while the number of homes sold in September is down from a year ago. The Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors reports Tuesday that the median price of a single-family home sold in September was $140,000, up 1.4 percent from August and nearly 14 percent from last September.
