    DETROIT-- U.S. safety regulators are investigating complaints that Honda Odyssey minivans and Pilot SUVs can roll away after drivers remove the ignition key. The probe by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration affects more than 577,000 older-model vehicles, which were big sellers with families because of their space and reputation for quality.

  • An estimated 577,100 Honda vehicles are being investigated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Office of Defects Investigation. "Honda will cooperate with NHTSA through the investigation process, and will initiate our own internal review of the available information," said a spokesman for American Honda Motor Co..

    DETROIT-- General Motors Co. said Friday that it plans to close its hydrogen fuel-cell research operation near Rochester, N.Y., and move about 220 jobs to Michigan. The Detroit- based automaker said the move will bring together experts on engine and transmission technology.

    DETROIT-- The union representing Detroit Water and Sewerage workers says a five-day strike has ended and that 36 employees fired for walking out will get their jobs back. American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees Local 207 said in a statement Thursday that its executive board voted to end the strike after negotiations with management.

    DETROIT-- Drivers of the Hyundai Veloster could be in for a surprise while cruising down the highway. The probe affects about 18,000 vehicles from the 2012 model year, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday. Hyundai said it is working with NHTSA on the investigation.

    The steroid medication suspected in an outbreak of a rare kind of meningitis was shipped to 23 states, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The specialty pharmacy that made the steroid, New England Compounding Center of Framingham, Mass., recalled three lots of the drug last week and has shut down operations.
