    Aug 24- Sony Corp said on Sunday its PlayStation Network was taken down by a denial of service-style attack and the FBI was investigating the diversion of a flight carrying a top Sony executive amid reports of a claim that explosives were on board.

  • Indonesia's chief economics minister, Chairul Tanjung, said he had got to a point where he felt only talking directly to the 76- year-old U.S. mining legend might break a deadlock in the six-month row, which had already cost Southeast Asia's top economy more than $1 billion and put thousands of jobs at risk.

  • GM opens IT center in Phoenix, Arizona Friday, 22 Aug 2014 | 12:00 PM ET

    Aug 22- General Motors Co said it opened a fourth IT center in the United States in Phoenix, Arizona as it aims to improve performance and cut operational costs. The automaker said it expects to hire 1,000 employees at the center over the next five years. GM's three other IT centers are in Warren, Michigan, in Austin, Texas and in Roswell, Georgia.

  • NEW YORK, Aug 7- Freeport-McMoRan Inc has contacted potential buyers about selling its onshore oil wells in California, which could fetch as much as $5 billion, people familiar with the matter said.

  • Shares of the oil sands producer surged as much as 4.8 percent after Athabasca Chief Executive and President Sveinung Svarte said Wednesday a C $1.23 billion deal with PetroChina Co Ltd to complete its takeover of the Dover project would close within a "reasonable time frame."

  • Aug 6- Canadian oil sands producer Athabasca Oil Corp reported a bigger quarterly loss as it set aside C $49 million to settle some claims by PetroChina Co Ltd's Phoenix Energy Holdings Ltd..
