K12 Inc. appoints Engler to board of directors

HERNDON, Va. -- Educational software company K12 Inc. said Friday that it has appointed former Michigan Gov. John Engler to its board of directors.

Engler is the president of the Business Roundtable, an association of CEOs from various U.S. companies. He was governor of Michigan from 1991 to 2003. He currently serves on the boards of directors of Universal Forest Products Inc. and Munder Capital Management.

K12 CEO Ron Packard said the company expects Engler he will bring business and leadership experience to the board.

Shares of the company, based in Herndon, Va., fell 11 cents to close at $21.46.
