Australia shares edge up to fresh 5-month high
MELBOURNE, Oct 3 (Reuters) - Australian shares rose 0.3 percent to a fresh five-month high on Wednesday, lifted by gains in top banks even as miners lost ground.
The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index
was up 12 points at 4,444.7 by 0017 GMT, its highest since May 1. It rallied 1 percent on Tuesday after the central bank cut rates by a quarter point to a three-year low of 3.25 percent.
New Zealand's benchmark NZX 50 index
rose 0.3 percent to 3,883.6 points.
