Amazon to spend $1.16 bln to buy Seattle offices

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct 5 (Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc said on Friday that it will spend more than $1 billion for office space in Seattle.

The world's largest Internet retailer plans to buy 11 buildings, comprising 1.8 million square feet of corporate office space, in the city, the home of its headquarters. It currently leases the space, it noted in a regulatory filing.
