Shares in French movie studio EuropaCorp surge 13 percent after Liam Neeson thriller "Taken 2", which it co-produced, captures the No. 1 spot on movie box office charts over the weekend.
The sequel sold $50 million worth of tickets over the weekend in the United States and Canada, helping it to a gobal take of $117 million including $55 million from international markets.
The movie was jointly financed by News Corp's 20th Century Fox and Europa, run by "Taken" writer and director Luc Besson.
The gains lift the shares to a 14-month high. They have more than tripled in value since their year low in late May.
