Shares in Carrefour rise 5 percent after the French retailer posts a slight rise in third-quarter sales on an improvement in its core domestic business.
"In France, the decline at hypermarkets like-for-like excluding fuel is less pronounced than expected and less strong than in Q2 2012," CM-CIC analyst Christian Devismes writes.
He adds: "In Latin America, the figures are highly satisfactory."
Aurel BGC analysts say the sales figures are positive and show the beginning of an improvement in French hypermarkets, which are key for its position in its home market.
"After a positive surprise in the first half and another positive surprise in the third quarter, confidence could quietly return in the new management's ability to put things back on track," the Aurel BGC analysts write.
