Bagchee's Scorecard: 2012

OVERALL GRADE: C

China's housing market will correct: A

I got this one right, prices declined, and the doomsayers were proved wrong, just as I had said.

Chinese stocks will outperform: D

I was wrong by a wide margin. The market is down nearly 11 percent year-to-date and down 18 percent over the past year.

Japanese bond yields will rise: D

Instead, bond yields have fallen from around 1 percent on the 10-year security to just 0.7 percent.

India will face political and economic crises: A

It's been a turbulent year for India, with plenty of problems on the economic front, and another major corruption scandal, so in that sense I was right.
