VANCOUVER, BC, Dec. 5, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Jay Garnett, CEO of Icon Fine Wine & Spirits is proud to announce the addition of two prestigious brands to the Icon portfolio: Château de Sancerre and Casa Lapostolle.

Both estates are owned by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, of the world-renowned house of Grand Marnier, and her husband Cyril de Bournet. The couple choose Icon Fine Wine & Spirits as their new partner agency to steward their brands in the prairies and western provinces of Canada because of Icon's boutique approach and expertise in connecting its partner wineries with wine loving consumers. Icon took over the brands from Diageo Canada Inc. on December 1.

Château de Sancerre, is an iconic estate in the beautiful Loire Valley of France. The region is world renowned for its pure and lively Sauvignon Blanc. Château de Sancerre is a leading producer and offers elegant wines of exceptional value which can be found on wine lists of leading restaurants around the world.

Casa Lapostolle was founded in 1994 with the mission to create world-class wines using French expertise and the superb terroir of Chile. The winery adopted the tagline: "French in Essence. Chilean by Birth" which is embodied in every aspect of their wines.

In creating Lapostolle, the family pursued the same uncompromising approach to quality that has made Grand Marnier a global success. Today, Casa Lapostolle owns 370 hectares in three different vineyards and produces a total of 200,000 cases. The family has made significant investments into the vineyards and grows Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carmenère, and Syrah under the most sustainable farming practices.

Icon will distribute the complete range of Château de Sancerre and Casa Lapostolle wines in western Canada. All of Château de Sancerre wines are produced from 100% estate grown fruit. The Casa Lapostolle portfolio consists of wines from their Casa varietal range such as Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon, while the Cuvee Alexandre tier pioneered some of the first ultra-high quality wine from Chile well over a decade ago. Clos Apalta remains the flagship wine of the estate and every year is rewarded for its exceptional quality, as it was earlier this year with its appearance on Wine Spectator's Top 100 listing.

Icon Fine Wine & Spirits is a premium wine and spirit agency that markets some of the world's leading wines, spirits and ales in Western Canada. Boasting a unique collection of company-owned labels, and unparalleled beverage alcohol brands, Icon is noted for its portfolio of family owned boutique producers from the major wine producing regions of the world.
