Yahoo Mail Just got a major upgrade.

The email service was revamped with a simpler interface and a focus on quicker access to email. The new design was rolled out Tuesday and the changes were announced on company CEO Marissa Mayer's blog.

"You've told us loud and clear that you want fewer distractions when it comes to email. You want to quickly login, communicate, and get on with your day. And we've listened. Starting today, the new Yahoo! Mail is fast, easy and available anywhere you go," Mayer said in her post.

The improvements were introduced on major platforms including, web, Microsoft Windows 8, Apple's iPhone/iPod touch and Android, Mayer said.

Mayer, a former Google executive, knows the importance of having an efficient email product, calling it the "Ultimate daily habit" in her post.

She also emphasized how important mobile devices are with regard to email, and stressed that the mobile apps and the web platform share a consistent design for easy use.
