5 Tech Stocks Better Than Apple
Sure Apple is awesome. But shares are down more than 20% from their 2012 highs. There's got to be an easier way to make money in tech.
Following are stocks that the Fast Money traders like a little better.
Tim Seymour, founder of EmergingMoney.com
As you might expect, the Ambassador suggested an overseas play – Baidu. He called the company "a great value at 15 times earnings." And although he said Baidu faces the same challenges as Google, that is capturing more of the mobile market, he thinks Baidu will likely be successful. "They dominate in the market." And to top it all off he added, "the chart looks great!"
Pete Najarian, co-founder OptionMonster.com
Fast Money's Pit Boss recommended putting Nokia on the radar – that's right Nokia. "I think this stock is fascinating," he said. "I like their new 920 phone –and they have a monster contract with China Mobile with over 700 million subs." And there's icing on the cake. "I've been seeing unusual bullish activity in this name for quite some time," he said.
Brian Kelly, founder of Shelter Harbor Capital
BK is bullish on Oracle – largely as a play on mobile. "We're hearing how mobile is changing the landscape for companies ranging from Domino's to Saks," said Kelly. "Oracle has the whole back-end needed." Also Kelly likes the technicals. "If the stock can pierce above $32.50 I think we could be looking at a break out."
Dan Nathan, editor and co-founder of RiskReversal.com
Nathan is bullish on Qualcom. He sees this stock as a play on the secular trend in smartphones. And the trend is so strong that even a big cap like Qualcomm continues to generate serious growth. "They expect to grow earnings next year at 16% and sales at 23%," Nathan said. And there's another appeal. "A quarter of the market cap is in cash."
