Torbeck named CEO of Cincinnati Bell

CINCINNATI -- Telecommunications company Cincinnati Bell Inc. on Thursday named Ted Torbeck its chief executive, succeeding Jack Cassidy, who will step down as CEO and become vice chairman of the board of directors.

The appointments are effective immediately.

Torbeck joined the company in 2010 as president and general manager of Cincinnati Bell Communications, responsible for its wired telephone business, Cincinnati Bell Wireless and information technology provider CBTS.

Cassidy credited Torbeck with helping grow the company's data center business and fiber-based products for consumers and businesses.

Prior to joining Cincinnati Bell, Torbeck was CEO of Freedom Group, a subsidiary of private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management. He also worked for more than 25 years at General Electric Co.

Cassidy has been CEO of Cincinnati Bell for 9 years.
