Ray Kanner heads IBM's global pension and savings fund system in White Plains, NY, overseeing approximately $140 billion of IBM pension and savings funds worldwide. He joined the retirement funds group in 1993 with responsibility for the company's savings plan. Kanner assumed responsibility for equities in 1995 and was promoted to director of global equity in 1998. He had previously held positions in treasury, mortgages and credit with IBM Credit Corporation.
Kanner earned a B.S. from Brooklyn College, and an MBA and a master's in philosophy from New York University. He has held part-time teaching positions at NYU, Brooklyn College and Long Island University. He is currently a board member of the Emerging Markets Growth Fund, an advisory board member of the Russell Index Committee, vice chair of CIEBA and a member of a few philanthropic boards.
He lives on New York's Long Island with his wife. They have five children and two grandchildren.
