Subsea 7 faces strike in Norway over pay and conditions
OSLO, March 26 (Reuters) - Workers at Oslo-listed oil services company Subsea 7 could go on strike within a month over pay and benefits for offshore workers in Norway, Leif Sande, leader of the Industri Energi union, said on Tuesday.
If no deal is reached, 90 union members would go on strike from April 23, with union members at other companies also refusing to work on contracts with Subsea 7, Sande said, confirming a report in daily paper Stavanger Aftenblad.
The union says that Subsea 7 employs some workers on vessels off Norway through a Singapore-registered subsidiary and does not provide the benefits to which Norwegian workers are normally entitled.
Sande said that work on platforms is clearly governed by regulations but Subsea 7's multipurpose vessels, which are generally used for construction work, fall in a grey area.
Subsea 7 could not be reached for comment.
