Pa. slots revenue continued decline in March

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- State gambling regulators say gross revenue from slot machines at Pennsylvania's 11 casinos was down slightly last month compared to the same period a year ago, although it still amounted to the second-highest monthly take on record.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on Tuesday reported $229.3 million in gross revenue from slots in March, down from $233.1 million from March 2012. The monthly drop is another sign slots growth is leveling off, especially because the state's 11th casino to open, Valley Forge Casino Resort, was only open for one day last March.

The other 10 casinos recorded a 4 percent drop.

The state's first casino opened in 2006 and the industry has seen rapid growth in Pennsylvania, which has emerged as the nation's second-largest gambling market behind Las Vegas.
