CARSON CITY, Nev. -- A national transportation research group will release a report on the condition of Nevada's roadways just hours before state senators are set to discuss raising gas taxes by 2-cents annually over the next decade.

Democratic Sen. Tick Segerblom of Las Vegas is the primary sponsor of SB377 which will be presented Thursday to the Senate Committee on Revenue and Economic Development.

The bill would increase the tax on all motor vehicle fuels _ except jet fuel _ and taxes on special fuels and some gases by 2-cents annually over the next decade. The increase would be to properly fund highways upkeep needs.

TRIP, a national transportation research group based out of Washington, D.C., will release a report on the condition of Nevada's roads Thursday morning.
