Obama set to submit new NLRB nominees to U.S. Senate-aide
WASHINGTON, July 16 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama's new nominees to the National Labor Relations Board will be two veteran labor lawyers, Nancy Schiffer and Kent Hirozawa, a senior Democratic aide said on Tuesday.
Obama will nominate the pair to replace two nominees that he has agreed to withdraw as part of a bipartisan agreement reached by U.S. senators earlier in the day.
That deal ends for now a Democratic threat to strip Republicans of their power to block Obama nominations with procedural roadblocks known as filibusters in return for prompt confirmation of seven of the president's nominees.
