MassachusettsState Treasurer Steven Grossman has been busy getting the state's finances in order—his own, however, are another matter.
Grossman may owe more than $500,000 in back taxes after an error related to the consolidation of life insurance policies, the Springfield Republican reported.
Grossman disclosed the potential dispute with his insurance brokers in a letter to the state's ethics commission earlier this year.
The treasurer's spokesman declined further comment to the paper.
Grossman, a former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, has declared his intent to run for governor of Massachusetts in next year's election.
