Watch Art Cashin: Wait for 'real trading' next week

Art Cashin says this week's trading needs a "big asterisk" due to thin markets resulting from light attendance due to the Jewish New Year's holiday.

Cashin, UBS' director of floor operations at the NYSE, told CNBC's Mary Thompson that investors will have a better idea of whether this week's stock bounce (the Dow has been up four straight days) has staying power when "real trading" resumes in the coming week.

"It is interesting that stocks have rebounded pretty well, but some of the other warning signals, gold, oil and whatever" are still flashing.
