Make way for the Omate TrueSmart. The TrueSmart is a stand-alone water resistant smartwatch that can work independently and as a companion to your phone. The has the capability to make phone calls, send messages and connect to the Internet.

This smartwatch first made its debut on the Kickstarter website on Aug. 21, 2013. Blasting through its campaign, it closed with more than $1 million in funding this month.

Omate has two versions of its smartwatch. The Standard Smartwatch 2.0 that comes with 512MB/4GB of memory that is expandable by MicroSD up to 32GB retailing at $249 and the new Extreme Edition, which is equipped to hold 1GB/8GB of memory retailing slightly higher at $299.

TrueSmart has an Android 4.2.2 operating system, and is powered by 1.3GHz dual core processor to ensure that all Android applications will run smoothly.

The smartwatch features a camera, GPS, audio speaker, microphone, LBS tracker and more. Omate hopes to begin shipping both versions of the smartwatch in early December.

Omate is not the only company to make waves in the smartwatch industry. Among its competitors are the Sony Smartwatch 2, the Samsung Galaxy Gear and Pebble.
