Wall Street is bracing for the threat of a partial government shutdown on October 1 as Congress wrangles over the debt ceiling,

The budget battle will continue to capture the attention of traders and investors alike, Kenny Polcari, a CNBC contributor and director of NYSE floor operations for O'Neil Securities, said. However, he doesn't think a government shutdown would necessarily crush stocks.
