Payroll processor ADP's profit rises as U.S. job market improves

Oct 30 (Reuters) - Automatic Data Processing Inc reported a 9 percent rise in quarterly profit due to higher revenue from its payroll-processing business as the U.S. job market improves.

Net earnings from continuing operations rose to $328.6 million, or 68 cents per share, in the first quarter ended Sept. 30 from $302.5 million, or 63 cents per share, a year earlier.

Total revenue rose about 8 percent to $2.84 billion.
