White House likely to name Tim Massad next CFTC chairman
The White House is likely to name the Timothy Massad, the Treasury's assistant secretary for financial stability, as the next Commodity Futures Trading Commission chairman, according to sources close to the matter.
Massad has overseen the Treasury's Troubled Asset Relief Program for the past three years. He joined the Treasury as the chief counsel for the Office of Financial Stability in May 2009.
Current CFTC Chair Gary Gensler is expected to leave by the end of the year.
