When the internet talks about Twitter, what does it say?
On November 7, Twitter became $TWTR, and users of the World Wide Web had a lot to say.
Across the social web, there were 182,263 mentions of the Twitter IPO, according to Mashwork, a social media insights firm. That matches up to 183,853 mentions of Facebook's IPO on May 18, 2012.
Digging into the conversations, people either love or hate public Twitter; neutral commentary made up less than 1% of all mentions. This means there were very few people tweeting dispassionately from the sidelines.
Interestingly, the majority of users who posted about the Twitter IPO had an annual income of at least $100,000, attended a top university, and were aged over 36, Mashwork says. Additionally, business was one of the top interests among these individuals.
