AIG in talks with AerCap for $5 bln leasing deal: Sources

AIG is in talks with AerCap about a $5 billion sale of its aircraft leasing unit, sources familiar with the talks said Thursday.

AIG has been trying for years to unload ILFC, its plane leasing business, filing for an IPO before striking a deal to sell the unit to Chinese investors.

But that deal has been in trouble for months, and the AerCap deal would offer a higher price.

The deal could be announced as soon as next week, the sources said.
