Talking Squawk, the official "Squawk Box" blog, is BACK after our holiday hiatus—providing tidbits, insights, and some sarcastic reflections on the WEEK THAT WAS and the WEEK TO COME from the notepad of the show's senior executive producer.
Conquer the Morning! Conquer the Day!
It's the new "Squawk Box" ad campaign, and it's a lot of fun. The first ads are meant to give you a real behind-the-scenes view of our three musketeers, showing you what makes them tick both at home and at the office. So if you haven't seen them yet, I posted the links to the videos featuring Becky, Joe, and Andrew below. (I should mention, we shot them for our "Squawk on the Street" brethren too! If you want to check them out just go to CNBC's "Conquer the Morning" Channel on YouTube)

More big thinking
Meanwhile, Glenn Hubbard ran the White House Council of Economic Advisers before he became dean of the Columbia Business School. He's also paid to think big on the economy.
Byron Wien's market surprises
Every year, market guru Byron Wien makes a list of 10 surprise predictions. He revealed this year's list on "Squawk Box" and then we went through them one at a time.
Among the highlights, he thinks this could be another 20 percent year for stocks!
Another surprise? Mexico.
And how about agricultural commodities?
The Squawk Reserve
"Squawk Box" Market Master Mohamed El-Erian runs Pimco—the largest and most influential bond trading firm in the world.
I have to admit, I have never been a huge fan of reality television. But "Shark Tank" on CNBC might just change my mind.
We had "Shark Tank" star Kevin O'Leary on this week to talk about the show's debut on CNBC on Tuesday nights.
Watch how this segment evolves and the conversation it sparked on the minimum wage.
All this bitcoin talk got us talking this past week, mainly about the story of Kanye West getting his own virtual currency, "Coinye."
This very important and relevant business discussion led the control room to draw their own obvious conclusions on what the next big virtual currency opportunity would be.
Of course, we now introduce to the world to the Joe "Kernency."
Byron Wien: " ... I knew that would arouse you Joe."
Joe: "No, Byron your comments earlier about you hop around in the snow aroused me, but let's not get into that."
Eye in the sky
Your car knows more about you than you may think.
Ford's head of marketing was talking about data privacy at CES in Las Vegas this week. He says GPS units installed in Ford vehicles allow the automaker to know when drivers are speeding.
This of course has some Squawkers a little upset. Cue the classic Joe Kernen road rage video!
Change the world
It's our effort to help profile philanthropic gifts that could make a real difference. This week, a $75 million gift to Weill Cornell Medical College to help fight cancer!
Yep, Jan. 6 (the Epiphany in the Christian religion) is also known as Joe's birthday!!
Along with being the Epiphany, we also pointed out some other notable people who shared Joe's birthday celebration this past week.
Yep, that's Mr. Bean in the No. 1 position.

A power lunch
So where do superfamous mega TV news stars like Joe Kernen, Becky Quick, and Andrew Ross Sorkin do lunch? Michael's of course. We booked a reservation on the "Squawk Box" set with proprietor Michael McCarthy.
(That's if somebody else "more-famous" can get them in!)

OK, we have to catch up for a few weeks. Joe and Becky's Word Jumble competition has been on and off over the holidays. They only played six times. But we have kept a running tally since our last pre-Christmas update. They were knotted at three wins each. Here's Joe's bonus word: CBTOHL. Here's Becky's bonus word: PECLHA. Find the answers at the end of the blog.
