New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was widely considered a front-runner for the GOP nomination for the 2016 presidential race but after a scandal hit critical mass this week that some of his senior staffers created a traffic jam on the George Washington Bridge as political payback to a nearby mayor, his presidential hopes may be up in the air.
Or, as one New Jersey reporter so aptly put it: "For Gov. Chris Christie, the path to the presidency just hit a Jersey-sized pothole."
To be clear, Christie said in a two-hour press conference Thursday that he knew nothing about the order to create a traffic jam, revealed in emails between one of his top aides and Port Authority officials, saying the aide "lied to me." He fired the aide, Bridget Anne Kelly, and cut ties with a long-time political aide.
Still, there's a lot of buzz that this may have killed his chances at a 2016 run for president. What do you think?
