Dennis Woodside, a long-time Google executive who shepherded the company's Motorola Mobility acquisition as CEO for the last year and a half, will become chief operating officer at the cloud storage company Dropbox, as was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Woodside's departure comes at the end of an era, as Google just announced it would sell Motorola to Lenovo for $2.91 billion.

He is a significant hire at Dropbox, which continues to be run by its co-founder and CEO Drew Houston.
