A Mid-Atlantic was being hit by a treacherous mix of ice, sleet and snow early Monday, The Weather Channel reported.
Federal offices in the D.C. area were closed and schools were shut in D.C., Fairfax, Prince William, Loudoun, Shenandoah, Spotsylvania and Stafford counties, according to NBC Washington.
About 40 passengers on a Greyhound bus were examined after the vehicle overturned on the I-95 in Stafford County, NBC Washington's Eun Yang reported.
By 5:30 a.m. ET, snow was reported as far north as Philadelphia.
The Weather Channel's Chris Dolce said there was "potential for both the Monday morning and afternoon commutes to be affected by snow in Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Philadelphia."
