General Motors will add 1,400 jobs in Michigan, including adding a second shift at a plant where it will built the redesigned Chevrolet Volt, the Detroit Free Press reported Saturday.

GM, which will reportedly invest $450 million in two Michigan facilities, is expected to announce the new jobs on Tuesday, it reported.

Part of that investment will be made to a smaller plant in Brownstown, Mi., where GM produces batteries for the Volt.
