Groupon lets you save $10K on your engagement ring

If the high price tag associated with getting married is enough to keep you single, Groupon may have the answer.

On Monday, the online deals site launched a Wedding Shop, which features gowns, tuxedos—even engagement rings—at a fraction of their normal price.

Prospective brides can save 65 percent on a handful of Nicole Miller gowns, knocking the price from $1,430 to $500. Cash-strapped grooms can save more than $10,000 when popping the question, by purchasing a 1-carat gold diamond ring from Aurora Diamond Collection for $1,000.

Guests and families of the betrothed can also get in on the action, as honeymoon trips to the Bahamas and Tuscany are also offered.

The online site rolled out the Wedding Shop following a test run in January, when it received positive customer feedback over social media after offering five different styles of wedding dresses, said Lisa Kennedy, Groupon's vice president and general manager of fashion and apparel.

"What was pretty amazing to us was not just the velocity that we saw but also the fact that consumers were talking about it," Kennedy said. "From there we said, 'How can we make this better?'"

Although some of the deals will be offered in limited quantities, Kennedy said new items will be released before the shop closes April 16. Including local variations, there are approximately 3,000 deals in the shop. Kennedy added that the company is still in the testing phase, so it is not yet sure if it will relaunch the shop for the popular summer wedding season, or if it will become a permanent section on the site.

The Wedding Shop's launch comes as the average cost of a wedding climbed to an all-time high in 2013, according to TheKnot.com's Real Weddings Survey. According to the study, the average wedding budget rose about 5 percent compared to the prior year, to a record $29,858.
