Immune to the cloud cost-cutting, open-source solution company Red Hat calls itself the arms dealer to both sides and is only benefiting by an increase in volume as cloud competition heats up.
"As they lower the prices of their hardware it obviously makes buying a Red Hat solution on top of their platform even lower cost," Red Hat CEO and President Jim Whitehurst said Wednesday on CNBC's "Fast Money."
Red Hat today announced a new partnership with Google to allow the use and support of its services on the Google cloud platform. It has a similar deal with Amazon.
Shares of Red Hat rose 2 percent on the day, but have fallen about 9 percent so far this year.
