Democratic Senator: I'm willing to defy Obama

Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu, who has been repeatedly attacked by negative advertisements financed by conservative groups, is hitting back with her own ad that says she battles for oil and gas jobs, even if that means defying President Barack Obama.

The Louisiana senator's ad points out that as the chair of the Energy and Natural Resource Committee, Laundrieu holds a powerful position for Louisiana, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported Tuesday.

Landrieu is seen as vulnerable by Republicans hoping to regain control of the Senate. Conservative groups Americans for Prosperity and Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce, which keep the names of their donors secret, have repeatedly attacked Landrieu for supporting Obama and his policies, the newspaper said.
