Russian aircraft entered Ukraine airspace, Pentagon says

Russian aircraft have entered Ukrainian airspace on several occasions in the past 24 hours, Pentagon spokesman Colonel Steve Warren said on Friday, without offering further details.

Warren called upon Moscow to "take immediate steps to de-escalate the situation.''

Department of Defense officials confirmed to NBC that the flyovers were all brief and that the planes made no otherwise threatening maneuvers.
